Jennifer Shepherd

Jennifer Shepherd, DNP, MHA, RN, NEA-BC, NPD-BC, FAAN, is a recognized leader in nursing, technology, and workforce development. As Director of Nursing Practice, Work Environment, and Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation at the American Nurses Association, she drives initiatives that integrate AI into nursing practice to improve efficiency, resilience, and wellbeing.

With experience spanning direct care and executive leadership, Dr. Shepherd champions innovative strategies for quality, safety, and workforce sustainability. She holds advanced certifications in nursing leadership and professional development, serves as Vice President of the Virginia Nurses Association, and advises academic and policy boards.

Her academic credentials include a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a master’s in healthcare administration, and earned credentials in AI in healthcare from Harvard Medical School. In 2025, she was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and will soon be honored internationally as a Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
