About Us
Who We Are
The American Board of Nursing Artificial Intelligence™ (ABNAI) is an independent certifying organization committed to advancing nursing excellence at the intersection of patient care and digital innovation. We were founded to meet a critical and growing need, ensuring that nurses, the largest and most trusted healthcare workforce, have validated competencies to work confidently with artificial intelligence driven systems that influence clinical decisions, documentation, safety alerts, patient monitoring, and more.
While ABNAI governs its own certification standards and examination processes, it is affiliated with the Global Nursing Artificial Intelligence Alliance™ , a mission driven organization that promotes education, research, and leadership development in artificial intelligence across the nursing profession. This affiliation helps ABNAI remain connected to the rapidly evolving AI in healthcare landscape while maintaining the independence and integrity required of a certifying board.
ABNAI is not a government agency and our certifications are voluntary professional credentials, not a substitute for state licensure or regulatory requirements.
Mission
To establish and maintain rigorous standards, education, and certification that ensure nurses are prepared to safely and effectively integrate artificial intelligence into clinical practice.
Why Certification Matters
Artificial intelligence is already present in the tools nurses use every day, from clinical decision support and electronic health record documentation to predictive risk modeling and remote monitoring devices. Yet most nurses have had little formal preparation in artificial intelligence ethics, data literacy, model bias, or safe implementation.
Certification by the American Board of Nursing Artificial Intelligence™ (ABNAI) will:
- Define the knowledge and practice standards nurses need to work competently and ethically with artificial intelligence.
- Signal to employers and patients that a nurse has met an objective and recognized benchmark in artificial intelligence integration and safety.
- Strengthen the profession’s voice in shaping how artificial intelligence is built, validated, and deployed in healthcare systems.
- Create pathways for continuing education and recertification so nurses remain current in a fast changing digital landscape.
What We Do
Affiliation Program
The American Board of Nursing Artificial Intelligence™ (ABNAI™) operates in collaboration with the Global Nursing AI Alliance™, a New York–based organization dedicated to advancing nursing leadership in artificial intelligence. Together, these organizations share a unified vision to ensure nurses are equipped, educated, and empowered to lead the ethical integration of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
While ABNAI™ functions as an independent certifying and educational body, its collaborative alignment with Global Nursing AI Alliance™ supports the broader mission of fostering equity, innovation, and global standards in nursing and technology.

Real People. Real Stories

They were the best for us. I wish my loved one had moved there sooner. They have great activities. The care they give to the residents is fantastic. The food was good for our loved one.

I have been living here for a few months and I love the friendly staff and residents. We have a lot of activities available and one of my favorite things to do is movie night together.

I am so glad I could move in after several years of living alone and caring for a large house. I have many friends now to talk to and participate in activities with.

My mom moved there two years ago and is very happy there. The staff is pleasant, helpful and caring and they treat him like family. The management does a good job of keeping us informed on matters related to the facility and any impact on residents.
